Important Notice from Second Chance Cats of West Michigan
Please note that our adoption center does not accept cats directly from the public due to limited space and our focus on at-risk cats. Our facility, staffed by volunteers, cannot quarantine new arrivals.
Please do not bring outside cats here. This space is only for cats that are ready for adoption.
We aim to help as many cats as possible but must prioritize those most in need. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Why We Rescue Cats
Our purpose of the rescue is to make a difference in the world. We are acutely aware that more than 100 million stray cats and kittens live on the streets of America today, lacking adequate homes and care. By rescuing these animals in West Michigan, we aim to reduce this number and provide a better life for each one. When you choose us, you’re not just providing love, shelter, and sustenance to an animal in need but also transforming their life from survival to comfort and affection. Many of these animals would otherwise be forced to live out their days as wild scavengers, facing countless dangers and hardships.
Our mission has led to the rescue and rehoming of over 600 cats, each with their own story of hope and recovery. You can read more about our impact and individual rescue stories on our website:

How YOU Can Help a Cats in Need
Cats hold a special place in the hearts of Americans, being one of the most cherished pets, with over 100 million residing in homes across the nation. However, many more still need care and a loving home. Here’s how you can make a significant difference:
Fostering
Open your home to a stray cat as a foster parent. Fostering provides these vulnerable animals with a temporary, loving environment and helps them become more adoptable by adapting to a home setting. Learn more about how you can become a lifeline for a needy cat:

Donating

Adopting
Give a cat the ultimate gift by providing it with a forever home. Adopting a cat enriches your life with endless affection and companionship and allows us to rescue another cat in need. Cats are inherently social beings that thrive on love and friendship, ensuring mutual happiness and fulfillment for you and your new furry friend.
Ways You Can Adopt a Cat or Kitten from Us
Adopting a cat or kitten from us is a rewarding experience that provides a loving animal with a forever home. We have many cats and kittens of all ages, sizes, and personalities waiting for someone to love them. Here are the steps and recommendations to consider:
Consider Adopting in Pairs: Cats are social creatures who thrive on companionship. We recommend adopting cats in pairs, especially if you have a busy lifestyle or are away from home for work or school. Having a buddy provides them continuous interaction, play, and company, reducing loneliness and promoting mental and physical health.
Adoption Application: To ensure the best match between you and your future pet, we require all prospective adopters to complete an adoption application. This process helps us understand your home environment and lifestyle and match you with the perfect feline friend. Fill out the adoption application here.
Contact Us: If you have questions about the adoption process or need more information about a specific kitty, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Email us at adoption@sccatswm.org, and we’ll gladly assist you further.
Benefits of Adopting an Animal from Our Rescue
Adopting from our rescue offers significant benefits over purchasing a pet from a store or breeder, not only for your wallet but also for your heart. Here’s why choosing to adopt can be one of the best decisions you’ll make:
Cost Savings
When you adopt from us, you get a pet and receive a comprehensive care package that significantly reduces initial and long-term costs. This includes vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and a full medical review to ensure your new companion starts off on the right foot. These services, often included in the adoption fee, can lead to substantial savings compared to the cumulative costs of obtaining these services independently after purchasing a pet elsewhere.
A New Lease on Life
Every animal in our care has a story. Most were found facing life alone on the streets, struggling to survive. By choosing to adopt, you give these deserving creatures a fresh start and a chance to enjoy a life filled with love and security.
Personal Touch
Hear directly from those who’ve experienced the joy of adoption. By adopting from our rescue, you’re not just saving money; you’re also offering a second chance to an animal in need. You’re contributing to a larger cause: the fight against animal homelessness and the promotion of responsible pet ownership. Join our community of adopters and experience the profound impact of giving a rescue animal a loving home.
